MI Windows Closes Two Milgard Production Facilities
MI Windows and Doors announced the closure of two Milgard manufacturing facilities over the next few weeks. According to officials, the decision to close its plants in Aurora, Colo., and Grand Prairie, Texas, stems from weakened economic conditions brought on by COVID-19.
A significant number of families are impacted by these decisions, and we will do all we can to support them through the transition – said Matt DeSoto, CEO of MI Windows and Doors.
After acquiring Milgard in November 2019, officials for MI say the company remains committed to providing Milgard-branded products and services to customers in the Denver and broader Mountain West Region from its facilities in the Western U.S.; however, the brand will no longer be available in Texas. The company also noted a full line of MI-branded products is still available from its 400,000-square-foot facility in Flower Mound, Texas.
Unfortunately, it was no longer practical for the long-term health of our business to maintain operations in these locations – DeSoto said. – Through operational efficiencies at our other manufacturing locations we have ample capacity to meet the current and future needs of our customers.
