The "Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems" competition has earned widespread acclaim in the construction industry. Over the past decade since its inception, the competition has highlighted over a thousand remarkable buildings from Poland and abroad across its four editions, showcasing architectural excellence through ALUPROF's innovative solutions.
This prestigious event, which has previously awarded prizes totalling PLN 400,000, has seen participation from more than 1,000 entrants and featured discussions with prominent figures like Bogdan Zaha, Álvaro Leite Siza, Zbigniew Maćków, and Agnieszka Kalinowska-Sołtys. Now in its fifth edition, the competition's jubilee celebration has entered its next exciting phase.
More than 220 entries in the jubilee edition of the ‘Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems’ competition
On 15 July, entries closed for the fifth edition of the esteemed “Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems” competition. This year, more than 220 buildings from Poland and around the world were submitted, all featuring solutions from ALUPROF, a leader in architectural aluminium systems. This impressive turnout underscores the global success and growing reputation of both the brand and the competition.
In the previous four editions, nearly 600 exceptional projects have been submitted, including architectural gems like the Faculty of Applied Linguistics and Neophilology at the University of Warsaw, the Nobu Warsaw Hotel, the Warsaw Brewery Complex, the Sara Kulturhus in Skellefteå, Green2Day in Wrocław, and .KTW in Katowice. Since its second edition, the competition has also featured the 'Future Builders' platform, fostering debates on the construction industry's future.
These panels have attracted over 20 renowned construction specialists, experts from fields such as urban planning, sociology of space or building certification, and architects including Álvaro Leite Siza Vieira, Robert Konieczny, Zbigniew Maćków, João Rodrigues, Neil Pennell, and Bogdan Zaha of the acclaimed Zaha Hadid studio. The discussions from the last competition alone were attended by over 500 industry representatives and streamed live on YouTube.
Jury Deliberations and Online Voting Begin
With the first stage of the “Building of the Year Created with ALUPROF Systems” competition concluded, the jury will now begin deliberations. The jury, led by Przemo Łukasik, co-founder of the award-winning Medusa Group studio, includes esteemed architects and industry professionals such as Maciej Franta, Karol Fiedor, Bożenna Wawrzyniak-Mańko, Elżbieta Dziubak, and Zbigniew Poraj.
Concurrently, the competition invites public participation through online voting from 16 July to 16 August 2024, at future-builders.com/en/contest. Voters can choose their favourite project, with the most popular receiving the “Internet Users’ Accolade.” Additionally, 10 prizes from Aluprof will be awarded to voters whose selected building wins this category.
Final Gala on 16 October. The grand finale will be held on 16 October 2024, at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Warsaw. During this event, the competition winners will be announced, with cash prizes of PLN 50,000 for first place, PLN 30,000 for second, and PLN 15,000 for third. The evening will be preceded by the international 'Future Builders' conference, addressing key architectural topics with leading architects and industry experts from around the globe—speakers to be announced soon.
The competition is supported by content patrons such as the SARP, the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland, the PLGBC, and the Real Estate Developers Association of Poland.
