Schraml Glastechnik has been an established company in the field of glass processing and washing machines for over 50 years. Since its takeover by the LiSEC Group in 2016, the company's portfolio has been streamlined and optimised in the direction of Industry 4.0 and line integration.
LiSEC's international sales and service network is also advantageous for reaching more distant markets and guaranteeing the necessary 24/7 service availability. Schraml systems and the Schraml team are optimally integrated into the LiSEC network.
At this year's glasstec in Düsseldorf, from 22 to 25 October, Schraml will once again be exhibiting at the LiSEC booth in Hall 17 / Stand A64. In an interview, Horst Schraml, Managing Director of Schraml Glastechnik, discusses the Schraml product range and trends, and provides an insight into what will be on show at glasstec 2024.
Horst Schraml, Managing Director of Schraml Glastechnik
When and for which challenges is Schraml the right company to turn to? And why do customers opt in favour of Schraml products?
Horst Schraml: Broadly speaking, the Schraml product range includes vertical production systems; for example, for grinding and polishing (GLX), for drilling, milling and water jet cutting (topDRILL G8, M-RX G7), for washing and drying (topCLEAR), and for loading and unloading (SSP sorting buffer). The Schraml product portfolio is of particular interest to customers who are looking for a practical, easy-to-operate machine suitable for everyday use, with an unbeatable ROI and manageable maintenance.
Essentially, this means that Schraml systems are practical and customer-friendly in many respects. The appropriate point of contact from the Schraml team will look for the best solution for each customer's challenge and endeavour to provide unbeatable service and spare parts availability afterwards. Furthermore, when it comes to looking at the return on investment, as previously mentioned the machines are outstanding value for money and deliver a very long service life.
What can we expect to see from Schraml at this year's glasstec?
Horst Schraml: At this year's trade fair, we will be presenting a future-proof combiFIN production system consisting of GLX, M-RX with water jet head, topCLEAR grinding machine – for the first time in combination with the new SSP storage and sorting buffer for unmanned operation. The system is ideal for the flexible production of medium-sized formats such as doors, balustrades or back walls, etc.
You can see the machine's functionality for yourself during the live demonstrations held at the exhibition stand every day. These will be taking place daily at 1:30 pm, and at any time on customer request. We look forward to your visit and will be happy to send you the relevant documents in advance.
What are the advantages / USPs of this machine?
Horst Schraml: The machine combines many years of experience with functions that can meet future challenges. The operating concept has been continuously developed over the years and is highly user-friendly with a standardised interface. Engineering has already taken into account possible future service and maintenance work. The machine is suitable for flexible configuration, meaning that it can be subsequently expanded at any time depending on customer requirements.
Specifically, vertical machining requires less space with this system and brings with it the advantage that the risk of breakage is minimised. Further USPs of the machine include:
» Large maximum dimensions with a compact line length
» Unbeatable cycle times in this machine class
» Shapes, parallelograms, round corners, etc. are possible without loss of cycle time
» Modern operating concept and open interfaces, also to third-party devices
» Now with the new SSP storage and sorting buffer for unmanned operation
What objectives and future trends can be pursued and realised with the machine on show at the trade fair?
Horst Schraml: Vertical processing is a huge trend in flat glass processing: simple, breakage-proof and fast. The Schraml combiFIN can be integrated into any modern production environment thanks to its many interfaces, while the division into two processing towers (grinding/polishing and drilling/milling/water blasting) makes processing easier overall and the cycle time much more attractive for customers.
Future trends are taken into account with functions such as maintenance interval displays with integrated service messages, IoT monitoring for technical and commercial parameters, Industry 4.0 suitability thanks to open interfaces, servo motors with single-cable technology and state-of-the-art CNC software.
