In a move to enhance patient flow, hygiene, and sustainability, Madrid's 12 de Octubre Hospital has opted for a major upgrade with 445 automatic doors from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems.
This development marks a major transformation from the old building, which has just over 20 automatic doors. Juan Bautista Godoy Prieto, the Chief Engineer of the Engineering and Maintenance Service at the hospital, noted that this upgrade addresses critical needs including safety, durability, and energy efficiency, reflecting the hospital's commitment to advanced healthcare infrastructure.
During the reconstruction of the 12 de Octubre Hospital, we knew automatic doors would be critical in solving essential requirements – he added. – We chose SL500 sliding doors and SW300 swing doors. Our first goal was hygiene, especially in important areas such as operating rooms and intensive care units. For these areas, we installed airtight doors. In addition to airtightness, these doors also help improve energy efficiency, a key aspect of our sustainability efforts.
