Window and door profiles have to repel the sun, wind and rain over decades, without functional failures. To develop particularly robust profile films, Continental is now catching the sun in the laboratory with the new TSR test procedure!
Cooler surface = longer service life
Surface heat resistance is crucial to the durability of window profiles. Long-term tests have shown that the durability of a window profile is greatly extended if it is subject to less heat. By reducing the average temperature by 5 °C, service life may increase by as much as 50%.
The TSR test procedure: natural sunlight simulated in detail
With the innovative TSR (Total Solar Reflection) test procedure, Continental can now simulate the effects of natural solar radiation in the laboratory in a more realistic way than ever before. The calculated TSR value shows the proportion of radiation reflected by the window profile film. The higher the TSR value, the cooler the surface remains.
Proven durability: cool colors and cool colors Plus films
The TSR value makes it possible to make realistic predictions for the heating behaviour of window profile films for the first time. And without having to test every single colour composition in the laboratory!
This makes it possible for us to develop films that demonstrably better repel heat and last longer than others. Like our cool colors and cool colors Plus window profile films. Even on hot days, they remain several degrees cooler than films from other manufacturers.
