Poma Glass and Specialty Windows Inc. announced the company will permanently close its Boardman, Ohio, facility. According to the state’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) listing, 57 employees will be laid off, starting July 25, 2020 as a result of the closing.
According to the act, WARN requires companies with at least 50 full-time employees to ﬁle a notice of a mass layoff or a closing 90 days prior.
Michael Antonucci, Poma Glass president, said in the WARN filing that the company’s workers are not represented by a union. The Ohio plant specialized in fabricating residential doors and windows, according to the company’s website. The company’s Boardman, Ohio, location is one of seven plants operated by AGC Glass North America, which is based in Alpharetta, Ga.
AGC Glass North America provides flat glass for architectural, interior, residential and industrial applications.
