On Tuesday, February 4th, Glass for Europe answered to the European Commission consultation on European climate law – achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

The European Union aims at achieving net zero emissions by 2050 mainly by cutting emissions, investing in green technologies and protecting the natural environment. The consultation aimed at collecting feedback on the roadmap on the Climate law released by the European Commission which is expected to release its proposal later this year.

In its answer to the consultation, the European association of flat glass manufacturers and transformers highlighted that urgent measures should target the sectors of the economy with the highest co2 emissions reduction potential, namely building, transport and energy. In the sectors where solutions are not yet available, measures are urgently needed to unlock new CO2 savings reduction potentials; such as the support to research and the development of infrastructures.
