The SANCO Reference Award 2025 has been presented to the family-owned company isophon glas of Hannoversch Münden. The long-standing SANCO partner is being honoured for its outstanding glass so-lution used in the Hamburg residential development Eleven Decks. The jury praised the project for its technical excellence, architectural quality, and exemplary combination of sustainability and innovation.

Award-winning architecture with character

With 306 apartments, Eleven Decks is one of the largest privately fi-nanced residential developments in Hamburg’s HafenCity. Rising above the ground-floor retail area, the building steps up to eleven storeys and offers a wide range of apartment types – from one-room units to a pent-house with landscaped roof terraces. The concept is complemented by a variety of shared spaces, including co-working areas, fitness and yoga rooms, a club-style social area with open kitchen, and a communal bar-becue area.

Designed by CARSTEN ROTH ARCHITEKT, the building has already received several awards, including the German Design Award 2024 and Residential Buildings of the Year 2025. Eleven Decks has also achieved international BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification for eco-logical and socio-cultural sustainability.

Glass as a defining façade element

For the project, isophon glas supplied a state-of-the-art triple-glazed in-sulating glass unit, which was complemented on the street-facing loggias by a suspended impact pane featuring an anti-condensation coating. The combination meets the highest requirements in terms of sound and ther-mal insulation, while also ensuring clear views and a pleasant indoor climate – a key contribution to the high level of living comfort in the dense urban environment of HafenCity.

The glass façade of Eleven Decks im-pressively demonstrates how technical innovation and architectural de-sign can go hand in hand – the jury stated in its citation.
