Over the years, there has been a huge trend of energy efficiency in many European countries. Things are no different in Lithuania. In 2004, the energy saving program for multifamily buildings was approved by the Lithuanian goverment.

The essence of the program was to ensure effective and rational use of energy resources in existing housing, maintenance, upgrading and modernization. The aim of the program was also to provide soft loans to implement energy efficiency increasing measures in multifamily houses. A total of 1084 multifamily houses were renovated during 2005-2015. The modernization program included: replacement of windows and external doors, insulation of external surfaces: roofs and walls and modernization of heating substations and balancing of heat distribution around the building.

According to data supplied by WINDEX, one of the leading manufacturers of uPVC windows and doors in Lithuania, the Lithuanian PVC market consisted of approximately EUR 46 million in 2015 and the export sum of PVC windows and doors is about EUR 28 million per year (the main export destinations are Scandinavia and Germany). PVC windows remain the most popular type of windows in the country with 90% of the market (10% consists of wooden and aluminium products). The European and Scandinavian types of windows are currently the main types of windows manufactured in Lithuania.

WINDEX has one of most modern production lines in Baltic countries with the production area of 2200 m², two independent standard production lines and a separate production line for non-standard products. The production capacity is up to 75 thousand frames per year.
