Messe Düsseldorf Trade Fair organization was founded in 1947 as Nordwestdeutsche Ausstellungsgesellschaft mbH (NOWEA), and is today called Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. The Group currently runs a global network of sales offices in 136 countries (73 international representations) as well as competence centers in eight countries.
» International goals
The internationality of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH is one of the most important goals for the future success. 32,100 exhibitors presented their products to 1.6m trade visitors at events in Düsseldorf this year. There were about 70 proprietary, joint and contracted events outside Germany, demonstrating that the Messe Düsseldorf Group is a leading global platform for export.
In 2016, Messe Düsseldorf's proprietary events in machinery, plants and equipment had approx. 72 per cent international exhibitors and trade visitors from other countries, which was 180 in total.
» Glas Industry - glasstec
Glasstec is always upfront when it’s comes to innovations and highlights concerning glass. It is the leading trade fair for the glass industry, registering more than 1,230 exhibitors from over 50 countries in 2016. It covers the entire value chain for glass with an unrivalled cross-section of top-notch companies.
Thanks to the high number of international exhibitors’ in attendance, glasstec also attracts a high-calibre audience. At the last glasstec in 2016, 71% of the over 40,000 trade visitors came from abroad.
» 25th edition of glasstec
Glasstec celebrated its premiere in 1970 and has not lost any of its function and fascination over its almost 50 years of existence.
The more complex the products, systems and processes became for the individual trades, the more important becomes direct dialogue among all players in the industry – be it manufacturers, dealers, architects or skilled craftsmen. glasstec is a marketplace, trendsetter, innovation and information platform and remains the No. 1 trade fair for the glass sector worldwide.
» Place and event direction
Glasstec 2018 will take place 23rd to 26th October 2018 here in Düsseldorf and there will be again many new highlights to see and experience. In addition to the exhibitors’ wide and varied ranges covering the areas of glass production, manufacturing technology, glass finishing and processing as well as numerous glass products and applications, glasstec has a unique and extensive programme of supporting events in store.
For many years the highlight has been the Special Show glass technology live. Now under the guidance of a university network consisting of TU’s Darmstadt, Dresden, Delft and University of Dortmund gtl will again showcase forward-looking exhibits from glass technology, production and applications. The Special Show will be complemented by the glasstec conference.
» Function meets glass
As a major think-tank the glasstec conference pools the well-known lectures by high-calibre speakers thereby fusing theory and practice. The series of meetings will be kicked off by “function meets glass” on Monday before the official start of glasstec. Also forming an integral component again will be “engineered transparency” and the Architecture Congress, which will be dovetailed even more closely on Thursday and Friday. Individual sessions on the topics glass production, markets and technology will be organised by the partners HVG-DGG, BV Glas and VDMA during Tuesday and Wednesday.
» Craft live
The glass processing crafts will be presented for the fourth time now in their Special Show “Craft live”. Here the top innovations will be demonstrated in practical applications on an activity area. At the “glass art” exhibition leading international artists will be showcased.
» Glass World
Applications and glass products are becoming increasingly diverse. This diversity can be seen at Glasstec 2018. No other specialist event presents the entire range of glass as a material. Glass facades for example today are more than design objects. They perform functions such as heat insulation, solar protection and self-cleaning functions.
The LED-technology allows facades to be a communication and advertising tool. Even if you use it as giant monitors you can still provide people on the inside a clear view of the outside world and allow daylight in. With a structural repositioning, more concentrated on the value chain and a focus on top growth themes, glasstec 2018 will set new standards.
There is a focus on boom markets, such as interior design with glass and technical glass. Whether it is Touch Sensitive Glass, Flexible Glass, Electronic Ready Glass, Glass Fiber or LCD Television Glass – here you can see the concentrated innovative power of products made from glass. There is no better place than glasstec to see the whole industry.
